SAM—Sydney Alumni Magazine publishes an article by Jonathan Pearlman about Freeman’s relationship successively as Hebrew teacher, friend, and biographer of Roddy Meagher.
A review of Art’s Emotions in the Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews concludes that the argument in Art’s Emotions “should make its way into the canon of expressivist theories alongside Collingwood and Bell.” The reviewer writes: “Damien Freeman takes on the monumental task of developing a theory of aesthetic experience that accounts for its emotional aspects, its ethical aspects, and the role certain kinds of aesthetic experience can play in a fulfilling life. Despite the enormity of the task, he does an excellent job in so few pages.”
A review of Roddy’s Folly in The Australian concludes that “Meagher’s story is surprisingly multifaceted and Freeman tells it fairly and well… as Freeman ably demonstrates, Meagher was a unique and important Australian”
